What is Aquaplaning and how to avoid it with MRF tyres?

Hydroplaning or aquaplaning results when the water between the road surface and the vehicle tyres cannot be evacuated quick enough. The water on the road slowly builds up, and the pressure of the tyre on the road becomes lesser than the pressure of the water, resulting in the loss of contact with road surface. The loss of control and lack of traction results the tyre to slip. Usually, the vehicle stops responding to braking, steering and accelerating. Aquaplaning can thus be potentially dangerous as the car often gets out of control. The tyres begin to spin and skid around.

What causes aquaplaning?

The logged water and presence of excess water can make your Car Tyre lose the traction with the road surface. When a tyre runs through water, it pushes the waves ahead of it, resulting in water evacuation. In order for a vehicle’s tyre to travel properly in water, it must be capable of evacuating the water from the wheels to restore dry contact. But when the water is too much, the low-profile tyres give up and fail at dispersing the water. It lifts the tyre off the surface, causing the tyre tread to lose the traction.

How to reduce or prevent hydroplaning with MRF tyres?

The most guaranteed way of preventing hydroplaning is using a good quality tyre. MRF tyres are known for their dynamic grooves, unique tread pattern and resistance against aquaplaning. These tyres have more depth and don’t get worn out easily, which makes them evacuate more water, and reduce the hydroplaning risk.

Insufficient pressure inside the tyre’s tube is often the second main reason for aquaplaning accidents. Therefore, be sure to check the tyre pressure because a tyre having pressure below 30% has sharp risk of undergoing aquaplaning.

Summing Up- When there’s excess water on the roads, most of the vehicle tyres will suffer from hydroplaning. But you can easily cut through the water and maintain strong grip with MRF tyres such as Zapper S and Meteor, they can deliver perfect performances on wet road conditions.
